Deputy Minister of Finance Liao Min Attends a Video Conference of ASEAN, China, Japan, and Korea on Finance and Central Bank Deputy-Level Matters

People’s Financial News, April 8 — According to the official website of the Ministry of Finance, on April 8, the first annual meeting of the ASEAN–China–Japan–Korea Financial Cooperation Mechanism for deputies of finance ministries and central banks was held via video link. The meeting discussed the global and regional macroeconomic situation, as well as key topics of financial and economic cooperation between ASEAN and China–Japan–Korea. Deputy Minister of Finance Liao Min attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

Liao Min said that the regional economy is currently facing multiple challenges, and that all parties in ASEAN and China–Japan–Korea should uphold multilateralism, strengthen macroeconomic policy communication and coordination, continue to deepen regional financial and economic cooperation, and safeguard regional economic and financial stability. Liao Min noted that the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” reviewed and approved at the National “Two Sessions” that ended in March. During the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, China will continue to promote high-quality development and high-level opening-up, share “China’s opportunities” with countries around the world, and promote development and prosperity in the region.

This year, China’s economy has made a good start. China will continue to implement more proactive fiscal policies, focus on expanding domestic demand and investment in people, and strive to achieve the expected growth targets. The meeting also reviewed relevant documents and work plans concerning the ASEAN–China–Japan–Korea Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), the multilateralization of the Chiang Mai Initiative, the Asian Bond Market Initiative, the Disaster Risk Financing Initiative, and related matters.
