Pakistan mediates US-Iran talks, ongoing; the next few hours are "crucial"
People’s Financial News, April 7 — According to reports, on April 7 local time, two Pakistani sources stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing, with Pakistan acting as the main intermediary passing proposals between the two sides, but no substantial compromise has yet been reached. The sources said that Iran recently launched attacks on industrial facilities related to Saudi and American companies, which could seriously impact the progress of the negotiations. A senior Pakistani security official stated that if Saudi Arabia retaliates, the negotiations could be interrupted, and due to defense agreements with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan might be drawn into the conflict. Another source pointed out that the outlook for the negotiations in the coming hours is “crucial,” with Iran showing flexibility in willingness to engage in dialogue on one hand, but still insisting on hard preconditions on the other. Pakistan is urging Iran to return to negotiations without preconditions. A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry previously stated that the US and Iran are still exchanging information through intermediaries. However, an Iranian senior official revealed that Tehran has rejected the temporary ceasefire proposal, demanding that a halt to US-Israeli strikes and compensation be conditions for negotiations. Additionally, three senior Iranian officials on the 7th stated that Iran has informed Pakistan it will no longer participate in talks aimed at a ceasefire. (CCTV News)
