South Korea is expected to introduce an additional budget of 200 trillion won due to the chip boom.

The South Korean government believes that the excess tax revenue generated by the chip boom may help support a supplementary budget totaling as much as 20 trillion won, far exceeding the initially expected figure of about 10 trillion won. The report cites information from an unnamed government official saying that Samsung Electronics and SK hynix this year are both expected to reach operating profits of about 100 trillion won. If this target is achieved, it would not be impossible for South Korea to introduce a 20 trillion won supplementary budget without issuing government bonds. (Sina Finance)
