Tesla robot latest video reveals showcasing the deceleration gearbox and dexterous hand design

Today, Tesla Optimus’ official released a video and revealed related details about Optimus, including the development environment, the design of the reduction gearbox, the design of the dexterous hand, and more:

According to the video, the team is designing a high-power inverter whose overall dimensions are very compact. In a robot system, the high-power inverter provides the motors with precise AC power, enabling flexible motion of joints, accurate positioning, and high-torque output. The person in charge of the dexterous hand design for the Optimus said, “As we repeatedly redesign the robot and prepare to move the third generation into mass production, the product is gradually getting closer to human functional capabilities, and its appearance will not even look like a robot.”

Tesla Optimus’ official stated that Optimus will become the greatest product ever (the biggest). This general-purpose humanoid robot that can carry out practical work at scale will completely change the economic landscape of the workforce and the manufacturing industry. The company’s goal is to achieve large-scale mass production of Optimus as quickly as possible.

At the “Abundance Summit” held earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that Optimus3 is expected to begin production this summer. According to Musk, Tesla has entered the final stage of Optimus3 development, and he called this robot the most advanced humanoid robot in the world.

“We have entered the final completion stage of the Optimus3 generation, and it will undoubtedly become the most advanced robot in the world—no product can match it. In fact, I’ve never seen any robot demo results that can compare with the performance of the third-generation Optimus.” Musk said. At the same time, he made expectations for the production ramp-up pace of Optimus3, saying that the initial output of this humanoid robot will be very low, but also noting that large-scale mass production may be achievable in 2027.

CITIC Securities’ research report stated that the Optimus3 release schedule and overall pace are in line with expectations, and the product mass production plan is clear. Tesla is leading a global “physical AI” industry transformation, with humanoid robots serving as one of its core pillars, and continuing iterative improvements in a “data-algorithm-hardware” closed loop. The products are also expected to gradually extend from the B-end to the C-end, gradually opening up the expected space for one million humanoid units; it is recommended to focus on high-quality segments and seize key changes such as dexterous hands to capture certainty.

Huayuan Securities said that the turning point for large-scale mass production and commercial application of the humanoid robot industry may be approaching, and the industry is gradually entering a stage of standardized development. The evolution of embodied intelligence—autonomy and generalization capabilities—will also enter an accelerated track in parallel. In 2026, it may gradually move from small-batch validation to a new “1-10” stage. It is recommended to pay attention to upstream components and related targets of OEMs. Among them, upstream components are expected to benefit first thanks to cost advantages. For OEMs, rapid scale-up and capitalization may bring about valuation pricing with sufficient room.
