Some Indian refineries delay maintenance shutdowns
An Indian Oil Ministry official said on the 6th that some of the country’s refining companies have decided to postpone shutdown maintenance of production equipment to ensure domestic fuel demand. Oil Ministry official Sujata Sharma said that some oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation, had originally planned to carry out routine maintenance on equipment at some of their refineries. However, given that the private company Nayara Energy has decided to shut down its Vadinar refinery, which has a daily processing capacity of 400k barrels, for maintenance starting from the 9th, this is expected to tighten the supply of liquefied petroleum gas within India. In addition, there is a shortage of oil product supply caused by the war in the Middle East. As a result, some Indian oil companies have decided to postpone shutdown maintenance to ensure supply. It is understood that Nayara Energy had originally planned to conduct a one-month shutdown maintenance at the Vadinar refinery last year, but due to EU sanctions making it difficult for it to obtain key materials needed for the maintenance, it had to postpone its maintenance plan. Industry insiders said the shutdown maintenance is expected to last 35 to 40 days. (CCTV News)
