Ethereum Foundation Researcher: zkAttester client can eliminate the burden of re-executing blocks, allowing consumer-grade hardware to participate in network validation
ME News message. On April 1 (UTC+8), Ethereum Foundation researcher Ladislaus von Daniels introduced the zkAttester client solution at the EthCC[9] conference. He noted that the current Ethereum nodes are limited by the computational burden of re-executing, while the zkAttester client allows validators to directly verify zero-knowledge proofs without needing to re-execute all the transactions in a block. This can significantly reduce the node’s requirements for CPU performance, enabling consumer-grade hardware to participate in network verification. Moreover, after eliminating the re-execution step, the synchronization time for new nodes will be shortened from days or hours to the scale of minutes. Ladislaus said that this technology is highly aligned with the Ethereum “The Verge” phase goals, aiming to replace the heavy computational verification with ZK-SNARKs, so that Ethereum can also perform lightweight verification on mobile devices, ultimately achieving large-scale scalability of L1 and a higher degree of decentralization.
