Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu said on the 12th that Hong Kong will proactively connect with the 15th Five-Year Plan Outline, to further deepen reform in an all-round way and contribute to advancing Chinese modernization. Lee said, “I sincerely thank the country for its steadfast support and care for Hong Kong. The 15th Five-Year Plan Outline puts forward a number of provisions to promote Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability, and to deepen the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. I will lead the HKSAR Government to effectively play the role of the primary responsible party, unite people from all sectors of society to actively cooperate and proactively connect with the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan. We will build a systematic policy framework, make more comprehensive, more targeted, and more detailed strategic arrangements for key development areas, and formulate the first ‘Hong Kong Five-Year Plan’ that is macro, strategic, and forward-looking. The preparatory working groups that the various policy bureaux set up earlier in accordance with my instructions have now been converted into the working group for drafting the ‘Hong Kong Five-Year Plan’. It will work at full speed to compile the ‘Hong Kong Five-Year Plan’ and complete the relevant work within this year.” (Xinhua)
