On March 23, a passenger reported that at Shanghai airport they were dropped off mid-ride by a taxi driver, who raised the price on the spot. The fare was quoted at 150 yuan for 24 kilometers. After the passenger refused, the driver forced the passenger out of the car.
According to a video provided by the passenger, the driver involved was highly agitated, had a rude attitude, and even used profanity toward the passenger.
In response, the law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission launched an investigation immediately. A reporter learned from the law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission that the taxi driver involved, Yang , does not hold the employment qualification required for licensed Shanghai street-hailing taxi drivers. The license plate number of the taxi he drove is Hu ADY2, and the vehicle is owned by Shanghai Mingtai Taxi Co., Ltd.
For Yang ***, the taxi driver involved, allegedly driving a street-hailing taxi without the required employment qualification documents, the law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission, in accordance with relevant provisions of the Shanghai Regulations on Taxi Administration, plans to impose a fine of 2,000 yuan.
For the Shanghai Mingtai Taxi Co., Ltd. involved, allegedly assigning passenger transport service vehicles to people who do not have the required permits to drive, the law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission, in accordance with relevant provisions of the Shanghai Regulations on Taxi Administration, plans to order rectification and impose a fine of 5,000 yuan.
The law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission stated that the next step will be to urge Shanghai Mingtai Taxi Co., Ltd. to strengthen supervision of its drivers and require the company not to assign vehicles to drivers who lack employment qualifications for licensed Shanghai street-hailing taxis to engage in operations.
The law enforcement general team of the Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission also reminds residents: if they encounter issues such as price negotiations and mid-ride dropping off when taking a taxi, they can keep payment receipts and vehicle plate information, and call the 12345 citizen hotline to file complaints and reports.
