In response to the energy crisis, the European Commission simplifies some natural gas import rules
A reporter from CCTV learned that on the 18th in local time, the European Commission issued guidance aimed at simplifying the pre-authorization rules for imports of natural gas other than Russian gas, to improve energy supply flexibility and ensure market stability. According to the guidance, the EU recommends that member states’ customs authorities complete approval for imports of natural gas other than Russian gas within 12 to 24 hours to speed up clearance efficiency. At the same time, customs may allow the same document to cover multiple deliveries under the same day’s natural gas supply contracts, reducing the burden on companies to file duplicate declarations. In addition, the EU clearly stated that if previously authorized liquefied natural gas cargoes change their transportation routes due to reasons such as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the relevant companies do not need to apply for authorization again.
