Polygon will activate the Giugliano hard fork on April 8th to improve the final confirmation speed of transactions.
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Polygon Foundation stated it will activate the Giugliano hard fork on the mainnet on April 8, expected to occur at block height 85268500, at approximately 14:00 UTC. This upgrade is intended to improve the network’s finality speed by enabling blocks to be broadcast earlier, introducing a fee parameter in the block header, and adding support for fee data RPC.
The upgrade was tested on the Amoy testnet last month, and data shows that the finality time was shortened by about 2 seconds. The official notice advises that node operators should upgrade Bor to v2.7.0 or Erigon to v3.5.0 before the upgrade. This hard fork is part of Polygon’s “Gigagas” expansion roadmap, with a focus on improving network performance and the user experience.
