On the evening of the 27th local time, a security official and spokesperson for the Iraqi Shiite armed group “Liwa al-Shaheed,” Abū Mujāhid al-Asāf, issued a statement announcing that the suspension of attacks against the U.S. Embassy in Iraq would be extended for another 5 days. According to a statement released that evening by the Security Media Center under the Joint Operations Command of the Iraqi Armed Forces, the United States and Iraq agreed in a coordination meeting to “strengthen cooperation” in response to the continuously escalating situation in the Middle East.
