On April 5, the comprehensive analysis of the Shanxi Expressway public service platform of past Qingming Festival holiday traffic flow distributions predicts that the highest-peak daily expressway throughput will exceed 1.52 million vehicle trips. The total expressway throughput for the whole province during the holiday is expected to exceed 4.45 million vehicle trips, up by about 2.35% from last year.

Based on historical traffic volume data for the integrated road network and the current operation of the road network, the major traffic-heavy sections during the Qingming period are expected to be: the G55 Erguang Expressway Taichang section, the S87 Yunfeng Expressway, the G2003 Taiyuan Ring Expressway Northwest Loop section, the G5 Jingkun Expressway Qilin section, the G2003 Taiyuan Ring Expressway East Ring section, the G55 Erguang Expressway Changjin section, the S5902 Yuncheng Ring Expressway (Northwest section), the G55 Erguang Expressway Yuan Tai section, the G5 Jingkun Expressway Tai Qi section, and the G20 Qingyin Expressway Tai Jiu section. Based on a comprehensive analysis of congestion conditions over the past three Qingming holidays, the congestion ratios are relatively high for the G55 Erguang Expressway Taichang section, the G5 Jingkun Expressway Tai Qi section, and the G2003 Taiyuan Ring Expressway Northwest Loop section.

In addition, based on the comprehensive analysis, on the third day of the holiday (April 6), from 16:00 the outbound return-journey peak will begin, and it will last for a long time, gradually easing after 21:00. The Taiyuan direction is the core flow of return traffic. Vehicle streams will be concentrated on the into-city road sections such as the G2003 Taiyuan Ring Expressway East Ring section, the G5 Jingkun Expressway Tai Qi section, and the G55 Erguang Expressway Yuan Tai section, where congestion and slowdowns are likely to occur.

Accidents:

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Houyu section: on the route from Taiyuan toward Xi’an, between Xinjiang and Jishan toll stations, a rear-end collision occurred involving two passenger cars, occupying the passenger car lane(s).

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Qilin section: on the route from Taiyuan, between Hongdong Station and Mingjiang Station at K696, a passenger car fell into the roadside ditch and is waiting for recovery/clearance.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Taichang section: heading toward Taiyuan, at K837 between Yushe North and Taigu East, a rear-end collision occurred, occupying the passenger car lane(s).

Heavy traffic volume:

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Yuan Tai section: due to heavy traffic, the entrance to Huangzhai toll station is closed. Heading toward Taiyuan, between Gaopu and Dayu Station at the K693+800-K696 segment, vehicles are moving slowly for about 2 kilometers.

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Tai Qi section: toward Taiyuan, there are many mainline vehicles between Jiaocheng and Yiwang interchanges, moving slowly.

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Qilin section: toward Taiyuan, between Huozhou Station and the Goudong Tunnel at K649-K646, due to heavy traffic, vehicles are moving slowly (including the Chengwangzhuang Tunnel and the Goudong Tunnel).

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Taichang section: heading toward Taiyuan, at K835 to K831 and K843 to K839, there is heavy traffic and vehicles are moving slowly; the first and second teams for road network operation support and the expressway traffic police have been notified.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Changjin section: toward Changzhi, at K1012+600 between Gaoping and Shennong toll stations, there is heavy traffic and vehicles are moving slowly for about 1 kilometer.

Traffic control:

★On the G2003 Taiyuan Ring Expressway, the South Ring section: due to traffic-flow control, freight trucks at the Xiaodian and Guchengying station entrances are subject to intermittent releases (control for 30 minutes, release for 10 minutes).

For the East Ring section: due to traffic-flow control, freight trucks at the Yangqu, Zhangzitou, Yangjiayu, Songzhuang, and Changfeng station entrances are subject to intermittent releases (control for 30 minutes, release for 10 minutes); one lane is opened for vehicles at the Yangqu, Zhangzitou, Yangjiayu, and Songzhuang station entrances, and four lanes are opened at the Changfeng station entrance.

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Tai Qi section: due to traffic-flow control, freight trucks at the Yaocun, Qingxu, and Qingxu South station entrances are subject to intermittent releases (control for 30 minutes, release for 10 minutes).

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Qilin section: due to one-way/flow control, no freight trucks are allowed to enter at the Qixian station entrance.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Xinyuan section: due to heavy traffic, at the entrances of the Daixian, Daying, and Guoyang toll stations, yellow-plate trucks are prohibited from entering the expressway. The Xinguangwu toll station has opened one lane to release vehicles.

★On the G20 Qingyin Expressway, the Tai Jiu section: due to congestion in the Hebei section, yellow-plate trucks are prohibited from entering the Shijiazhuang-bound entrance from the Pingding station.

★On the G5 Jingkun Expressway, the Pingyang section: due to heavy traffic, yellow-plate trucks are prohibited from entering at the entrances of the Yuxian South and Chikou stations.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Taichang section: due to heavy traffic, traffic control is imposed on all freight trucks (except pickup trucks and green-tunnel logistics vehicles) at the Xiangyuan toll station entrance. Traffic control is imposed on all vehicles bound for Taiyuan at the entrances of the Tunliu East and Changzhi West toll stations.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Yuan Tai section: due to heavy traffic, at the entrances of the Huangzhai and Dayu toll stations, freight trucks are subject to intermittent releases, with control for 30 minutes and release for 10 minutes; one lane is opened to release vehicles (starting at 15:00). No freight trucks (excluding pickup trucks) are allowed to enter the expressway at the entrances of the Yuansping, Sanjia Village, Dun Village, Xinzhou, and Gaopu toll stations.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Changjin section: due to staggered traffic diversion, freight trucks bound for Taiyuan at the Shangdang and Changzhi South toll station entrances are prohibited from passing. Freight trucks at the JinCun, NanyiCheng, Gaoping, Shennong, Shangdang, and Changzhi South toll station entrances are prohibited from passing.

★On the G20 Qingyin Expressway, the Lvliang section: due to relatively heavy mainline traffic, the entrances of the Jiaocheng, Kaijia, Wenshui, Xinghua, Fuyang, and Fuyang West toll stations are closed.

During the holiday, vehicle-type controls:

★On the G1812 Cangyu Expressway, the Xinfu section: during the Qingming Festival holiday, at the Taishan Mountain Scenic Area station, the Gengzhen station, the Taimiao South station, the Jian’an station, the Jiangcun station, the Taishan Mountain Airport station, the Dingsixi North station, and the Caozhang station, vehicles exceeding limits are prohibited from entering.

★On the S5502 Xinzhou Ring Expressway: during the Qingming Festival holiday, vehicles exceeding limits are prohibited from entering at the Dingshixi West station, Xinzhou East station, and Yuwangdong station.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Taichang section: during the Qingming Festival holiday, at the Taiyuan, Yuci, Dong Taigu, and Yushe North toll station entrances, traffic control is imposed on vehicles carrying hazardous chemicals and vehicles exceeding limits. From April 4 at 7:00 to 12:00, and from April 6 at 14:00 to 20:00, traffic control is imposed on all freight trucks at the entrances. Starting April 3 at 17:00 through the Qingming Festival holiday, at the Yushe South, Wuxiang, and Wangcun toll station entrances, traffic control is imposed on vehicles carrying hazardous chemicals.

★On the G55 Erguang Expressway, the Changjin section: during the Qingming Festival holiday (from April 4 0:00 to April 6 24:00), at the Jincheng, Jincun, NanyiCheng, Gaoping, Shennong, Shangdang, and Changzhi South toll station entrances, hazardous-chemicals vehicles are prohibited from passing all day; each day from 8:00 to 20:00, vehicles exceeding limits are prohibited from passing.

★On the G2211 Changyan Expressway, the section from Licheng to Guxian: during the Qingming Festival holiday (from April 4 0:00, 2026 to April 6 24:00, 2026), at the entrances of the Licheng West, Xiangyuan East, Xiangyuan North, Qinxian South, Qinxian West, Qinyuan, Lingkong Mountain, and Guxian North toll stations, vehicles transporting hazardous chemicals and vehicles exceeding limits are prohibited from passing.

★On the S80 Linghou Expressway, the Gaoling section: during the Qingming Festival holiday (from April 4 0:00 to April 6 24:00), traffic control is imposed on vehicles carrying hazardous chemicals at the Lingchuan toll station entrance.

★On the G22 Qinglan Expressway, the Linji section: during the Qingming Festival holiday (from April 4 0:00 to April 6 24:00, 2026): hazardous-chemicals vehicles are prohibited from entering the expressway all day.

★On the G59 Hubei Expressway, the Jihe section: during the Qingming Festival holiday (from April 4 0:00 to April 6 24:00, 2026): hazardous-chemicals vehicles are prohibited from entering the expressway all day.
