【Caixin】 At the 2026 Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that Singapore believes China will play a greater role in supporting Asia’s prosperity.

Wong made these remarks during the plenary session of the Boao Annual Conference held on March 26. In his view, China’s pivotal position is reflected in many aspects—especially China’s vast domestic market, which will become a powerful engine for economic growth in the Asian region.

Wong further noted that China places technological innovation at the strategic core of national development and leads in key emerging areas such as digitalization and the green economy. More importantly, China is promoting innovation at a large scale—meaning that China is not only participating in the next round of technological transformation, but also committed to leading and shaping this new round of transformation.
