Reports say the SEC plans to cancel the mandatory quarterly financial disclosure requirement, possibly announced next month.

March 17, according to Reuters citing The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is preparing to eliminate the mandatory requirement for companies to file quarterly financial reports. Under the plan, companies in the future would be able to choose to submit only semiannual financial reports; the proposal could be announced next month. At the end of last year, U.S. President Donald Trump again supported the reform, and SEC Chair Paul Atkins subsequently announced that the implementation of the reform would be accelerated.

The SEC has not yet commented on the matter.
