Do the things you are afraid of; fear will naturally disappear. There is a exposure therapy in psychology: the more afraid you are of something, the more actively you confront it. Fear gradually diminishes through repeated practice, just like if you're afraid of the dark—if you keep hiding in the light, you might be afraid forever; but when you try walking a night route, you'll realize that darkness itself isn't that scary. As long as you dare to take the first step, fear itself is already reduced by 50%.

The essence of fear is imagination of the unknown. We’re not afraid of the thing itself, but of the various images our minds conjure up. The more you hide, the bigger the monster in your mind becomes; the more you face it, the weaker it gets. One time, and you win; the more you do, the stronger you become. Everything you avoid controls you; everything you dare to face can heal you.
