I just looked at the biggest Bitcoin holders, and it’s interesting to see who actually controls the most bitcoins. Satoshi Nakamoto leads the list with about 1.1 million BTC, but these coins have never been moved since the very beginning—quite mysterious.

With institutions, it gets wild: BlackRock holds over 300,000 BTC, showing how much traditional financial giants are now investing in Bitcoin. Then there’s Grayscale with over 260,000 BTC, and MicroStrategy under Michael Saylor with about 226,500 BTC. MicroStrategy has really gone in aggressively there and made Bitcoin their main reserve asset for their balance sheet.

The largest CEXs naturally have huge holdings—one major exchange holds over 550,000 BTC, and another almost 300,000 BTC. These amounts show how central these platforms are to global trading. Fidelity and Block.one also have significant amounts (over 180,000 and 164,000 BTC), making it clear that who holds the most bitcoins today isn’t just individual people, but above all large institutions and companies.

It’s also interesting that both the US government and the chinesische Regierung hold substantial holdings—over 210,000 and about 190,000 BTC. These mainly come from confiscations. Overall, it shows: the concentration of Bitcoin among major players is real, but there are also many different actors who have the most bitcoins spread out.
