After surveying more than ten provinces and cities, Guo Xing Tian suggests including home renovation kitchens and bathrooms in the "old for new" subsidy program.
In the past, to conduct in-depth field research on how the “trade-in for upgrades” policy has been implemented in the home renovation segment covering kitchens and bathrooms, Guo Xingtian visited more than a dozen provinces. Guo Xingtian is a member of the 14th National People’s Congress, the chairman of Wan Hua Ecological Industrial Group, and the vice chairman of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association. Issues such as “development of home decoration,” “green industrial transformation,” and “boosting consumption” have always been his focus. “The results of the ‘trade-in for upgrades’ practice in home kitchen and bathroom renovations are not very optimistic. Compared with automobiles and home appliances, there is a bigger gap in funding allocations and how the funds are used.” On March 2, in an interview with reporters, Guo Xingtian candidly said that he hopes to further promote the inclusion of prefabricated integrated bathrooms and prefabricated integrated kitchens in the scope of subsidies for “trade-in for upgrades,” so that relevant policies can truly be implemented effectively and activate the potential of existing stock in the home renovation market. At this year’s National Two Sessions, he brought forward five proposals. Among them, the one titled “Proposal on including prefabricated integrated bathrooms and prefabricated integrated kitchen products within the scope of consumer ‘trade-in for upgrades’ subsidies” carries significant weight. In his view, in the “post–real estate era,” renovations of existing homes and localized renovations have become major household consumption, following home purchases and car purchases. In theory, with about 400 million units of existing residential housing, the home renovation market size could reach an annual scale of 10 trillion yuan. And “green industrialized customized complete home furnishing,” which builds new quality productive forces, is precisely the “master key” to effectively activate the approximately 10 trillion yuan of existing home renovation demand in the domestic market.
