ME News message: On April 3 (UTC+8), the “drug kingpin” Park Wang-rye (47), who previously carried out large-scale distribution of narcotics from the Philippines into South Korea, was transferred to South Korean prosecutors on April 3. Park Wang-rye is suspected of smuggling and selling drugs in South Korea between November 2019 and July 2024. He allegedly collected drug transaction funds via bank transfers or Bitcoin electronic wallets; the illegal proceeds identified so far are about 68 billion KRW (about $45.09 million), and the total scale of the crimes amounts to 131 billion KRW (about $86.86 million).
