Russia Confirms Ongoing Intelligence Contacts with US Amid Global Tensions

(MENAFN) Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service continues to communicate with its US counterpart, according to statements made Wednesday by its chief, Sergey Naryshkin, as reported by various sources.

In remarks given during an interview, Naryshkin confirmed that lines of communication remain open between Moscow’s intelligence service and the US Central Intelligence Agency. “Yes, we maintain contact with the Central Intelligence Agency, if you are referring to the Foreign Intelligence Service,” he said.

Addressing a proposal by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a ceasefire over Easter, Naryshkin expressed strong skepticism toward Kyiv, indicating that Russia does not trust the Ukrainian leadership.

He also called on Zelenskyy to “gather the remnants of his critical thinking” and accept Russia’s terms for peace, arguing that such proposals would lead to lasting stability.

On the broader geopolitical situation, Naryshkin added that Russia is actively engaging with multiple countries and leaders to discuss ways to resolve the escalating crisis in the Middle East, describing it as one of the most serious challenges currently facing the region.
