The People's Bank of China has added 12 new digital yuan service operating institutions.

April 2, according to a notice on the official website of the People’s Bank of China: To implement the decision and deployment in the “15th Five-Year Plan” outline regarding “steadily developing the digital yuan,” to further improve the inclusiveness of digital yuan services, and to continuously respond to the public’s demand for safe, convenient, and efficient digital yuan services, the People’s Bank of China has added the following as bank-type digital yuan business operating institutions: China CITIC Bank, China Everbright Bank, Huaxia Bank, China Minsheng Bank, Guangfa Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Zheshang Bank, Ningbo Bank, Jiangsu Bank, Beijing Bank, Nanjing Bank, and Suzhou Bank. They have been connected to the central bank-side digital yuan system. After the newly added institutions complete their business and technical preparations, they will carry out digital yuan business.

Next, the People’s Bank of China will, in an orderly manner, expand operating institutions in accordance with the principles of market-oriented and law-based operation, further mobilizing the enthusiasm and creativity of market participants, and building an open, inclusive, and fair-competition development environment for the digital yuan.
