I just learned about Backpack in detail, and actually, it's not just an ordinary wallet like many others. What does Backpack mean? Simply put, it's an advanced blockchain wallet on Solana with much bigger ambitions.

The great thing about Backpack is that it functions like an operating system for decentralized applications. Instead of jumping between multiple platforms, users can do everything from one place—store tokens, send and receive NFTs, mint NFTs directly, and even have a messaging feature to chat with friends.

Most importantly, Backpack also supports xNFT (Executable NFT), a type of NFT that can execute commands. For example, you can stake DeGods NFTs directly within the Backpack wallet without needing a third party. It's an interesting combination of a wallet and an application.

But the most notable part is that in 2024, Backpack launched its own exchange—Backpack Exchange. In just the first 5 days, this exchange recorded trading volume exceeding $1 billion. It charges a 0.1% fee, supports Limit and Market orders, and currently operates in the Middle East, Asia, and some US states.

Technically, Backpack Wallet is a non-custodial wallet, similar to Phantom or Solflare, allowing users to manage their assets independently. It supports both Solana and Ethereum, and users can easily interact with DeFi protocols within the Solana ecosystem like Jupiter, Marginfi, or Jito Labs.

The development team behind Backpack is Coral, a crypto infrastructure company. The founders are Armani Ferrante and Tristan Yver, who previously created the NFT collection Mad Lads. They have raised $37 million from major funds such as Jump Crypto, Multicoin Capital, Placeholder, and Amber Group.

Overall, Backpack represents a new direction in digital wallet design—not just a storage space but a complete platform for interacting with the entire blockchain ecosystem. If you are active on Solana, it's definitely worth trying.
