I just read about the new restrictions at Polish ATMs — Planet Cash is introducing withdrawal limits starting in March. At first, I thought it was a local issue, but it turns out Euronet had already done the same a month earlier.
Here's the gist: now, with BLIK, you can't withdraw the same amount everywhere. The limit depends on the ATM's location — economic conditions, maintenance costs, all that. But for Mastercard and Visa cards, it's clearly up to 4,000 zloty per transaction. Operators cite conflicts with BLIK owners over fees.
Interestingly, if your bank is a network partner, you might have higher limits. But overall, the cash withdrawal limit in Poland is becoming stricter. At the same time, ATMs are closing — there are fewer than 20,000 left, and the number keeps decreasing.
It's surprising that in 2026, cash is becoming less and less accessible. People used to say cash is dying, but now it’s literally dying — fewer ATMs, branches closing, limits increasing. Is this a global trend, or is Poland an exception? How about where you are?
