I just looked into how much a general earns in Mexico, and honestly, military salaries are quite interesting. A Major General can earn more than 133,000 pesos per month, which adds up to well over a million pesos a year. Not including the benefits they receive.
The salary structure is progressive. A private starts at around 18,840 pesos per month, but as you climb the ranks, the numbers change quite a bit. A Colonel is already close to a million annually, and beyond that is where the real difference becomes evident.
The interesting part is that a general's earnings depend not only on their position but also on all the included benefits. We're talking about a 40-day Christmas bonus, vacation premium, a 40% technical allowance, food supplies, and transportation. This makes the total income significantly higher than the base salary.
Compared to other professions in Mexico, high-ranking military personnel are definitely in a solid financial position. A Brigadier General earns around 122,000 pesos per month. So, the answer to how much a general earns is quite clear: much more than the average.
A military career seems like a viable option if you're looking for long-term financial stability, especially if you manage to advance to higher ranks.
