Finally happened! Mikey Williams returned to the PBA after a three-year absence, signing a contract with Converge. Fans waited nearly a year after the team acquired his rights, and now the 34-year-old guard has officially become a FiberXer.

Interestingly, Williams' story with TNT ended quite dramatically. The guy led Tropang 5G to two championships, earning MVP honors in both finals, but then relations soured during negotiations for a new contract. The team terminated his contract in 2023, and later traded him for Jordan Heading this year.

Now Converge is planning to strengthen seriously. In addition to Mikey Williams, they have brought in Calvin Abueva and Jonnel Policarpio. Plus, they also signed former NBA center Kylor Kelley. FiberXers have never reached the semifinals in franchise history, so they are clearly counting on the arrival of such an experienced player as Williams to finally break through. It will be interesting to see if they can stand up to TNT, who also bolstered their roster with seven-foot-tall Bol Bol.
