I just checked the Altcoin Season Index, and the score is at 49. For those who don't know, this means the market is literally split: neither Bitcoin nor altcoins are clearly outperforming. The index compares how the top 100 cryptocurrencies (without stablecoins) have performed against Bitcoin over the past 90 days. When it reaches 75, it's a true altcoin season. When it drops to 0, Bitcoin dominates everything. But 49 is that middle ground where no one really knows what will happen. The interesting part is that this has happened before, especially before major market moves. Altcoins have potential in sectors like real asset tokenization, but Bitcoin remains strong due to institutional adoption. Meanwhile, on-chain metrics show mixed signals. The conclusion is simple: if you're a trader, it's probably not the time for aggressive bets. Better to diversify between Bitcoin and high-conviction altcoins and wait for the index to clearly break above 55 or below 45. The market is on pause, building energy.
