Anyway, what a strange news story—Sam Altman from OpenAI married Oliver Mulherin, an Australian computer engineer, in a private ceremony on a tropical beach. I happened to see it on social media some time ago when the photos came out, and initially everyone thought they were AI-generated, but Altman clarified that they were real.
Just to say, Altman's personal life has always been quite private, at least until now. Oliver Mulherin previously worked at Meta and has a computer science degree from Melbourne. The couple lives in San Francisco and decided to publicly share this important moment in their lives.
What really struck me is that Altman had that brief drama in November—he was removed from the board for four days and then immediately returned. Nothing unusual in the end, but at the time it was total chaos. Now everything seems stable again, and he continues to lead OpenAI normally.
I wonder how the perception of tech leaders will change when they share more of their personal lives. Or maybe it’s just not as big of a deal as it seems. What do you think?
