I just learned an interesting fact about Laszlo Hanyecz—the guy who bought pizza with Bitcoin. It turns out he spent much more on pizza than everyone thought. Yes, 10,000 BTC was that legendary deal, but in reality, Laszlo used cryptocurrency much more generously. According to him, he mined about 100,000 BTC and spent half of it on pizza, while the other half he distributed or exchanged for other things. He made a few thousand dollars profit from these transactions, which was enough for a new computer. Hanyecz didn’t spare money and was willing to overpay. But what’s even more interesting is that Laszlo himself considers his more significant contribution to Bitcoin history to be porting the code to MacOS. Satoshi Nakamoto originally developed everything on Windows and asked Hanyecz for help. He managed the task, and his source code was later distributed online. It turns out that the pizza story is just a meme, and the real contribution was something entirely different.
