This afternoon, the National Energy Administration released the nationwide power statistics for January–February 2026.
As of the end of February, the country’s total installed power generation capacity reached 3.95 billion kW, up 15.9% year over year. Of this, solar power installed capacity was 1.23 billion kW, up 33.2%; wind power installed capacity was 650 million kW, up 22.8%.
From January to February, the cumulative average utilization of the country’s power generation equipment was 466 hours, down 39 hours from the same period last year.

It is understood that in 2025, the country’s total electricity consumption across the whole society reached 10.37 trillion kWh, up 5%, breaking through the 10 trillion kWh milestone for the first time in history. Judging from the trends in changes in electricity consumption by region, the path of the industrial gradient transfer is clear, regional division of labor continues to deepen, and energy has a significant impact on the layout of industrial productive capacity. In 2025, the country added more than 430 million kW of wind power and solar power installed capacity (including 120 million kW of wind power and 318 million kW of solar power), up 22.0% year over year, setting another historical record.
