Ministry of Foreign Affairs: We hope that China's opportunities for innovative development will benefit more countries and people.
On February 27, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, hosted a routine press conference. A reporter asked about recent data showing that China has become the first country in the world to have more than 5 million valid domestic invention patents. Not only has the number of invention patent applications ranked first globally for several consecutive years, but China also holds about three-fifths of the world’s artificial intelligence patents and about two-thirds of patents related to robotics. Some comments have noted that this demonstrates China’s efforts to protect intellectual property rights and reflects the vitality of China’s technological innovation. What is the spokesperson’s view on this? Mao Ning said that when it comes to technological innovation, what impressed me most during this Spring Festival was the performance of robots at the Spring Festival Gala and the New Year’s greeting video generated by Seedance 2.0. The achievements of technological innovation are transforming daily life, bringing increasing surprises and conveniences. Technological innovation is a strong driver of China’s high-quality development and an important pillar of Chinese-style modernization. The 14th Five-Year Plan explicitly proposes to comprehensively strengthen independent innovation capabilities and to significantly improve the level of technological self-reliance and self-improvement as one of the main goals of economic and social development. China’s technological innovation always advocates a people-centered approach, technology for good, and inclusive development, aiming to narrow the technological gap. We will promote international exchanges and cooperation with a more open attitude, so that the opportunities created by China’s innovation-driven development can benefit more countries and people.
