Sinopec China Successfully Completes Energy Supply and Guarantee Work for the Heating Season

SHPGX Guide: During the heating season from 2025 to 2026, Sinopec fully leveraged its integrated advantages, coordinated and optimized resource balancing, and precisely organized operation scheduling to successfully respond to four cold waves and multiple rounds of cold air temperature drops, ensuring safe and stable operation of natural gas production and sales. As of March 15, a total of 24.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been supplied to the market, with a maximum daily supply of 248 million cubic meters, setting a new historical record; a total of 137 million square meters of geothermal clean heating has been provided, effectively ensuring that the public stays warm during winter.

According to the Production and Operation Management Department of Sinopec, during the heating season from 2025 to 2026, Sinopec fully leveraged its integrated advantages, coordinated and optimized resource balancing, and precisely organized operation scheduling to successfully respond to four cold waves and multiple rounds of cold air temperature drops, ensuring safe and stable operation of natural gas production and sales. As an important energy supply enterprise, Sinopec resolutely implements the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council regarding ensuring that the public stays warm during winter, as well as the requirements of the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration. It rigorously secures supply resources and continuously strengthens operational coordination. Before the heating season, it held a series of meetings, including the launch meeting for natural gas supply protection and a mobilization video conference, to make meticulous arrangements for supply protection and smooth operation. During the heating season, it initiated daily scheduling, weekly tracking, and monthly summary mechanisms for supply protection, organizing a three-tiered supply protection mechanism, and held weekly regular meetings on natural gas supply protection to ensure responsibilities are firmly implemented and all tasks are carried out effectively.

Efforts are fully concentrated on resource procurement. Upstream gas fields are actively stabilizing and increasing production under the premise of safety, with main gas fields such as Puguang, Yuanba, Fuling, and Daniu fully releasing capacity, ensuring smooth resource export channels, achieving full production and sales, and maintaining a daily average production of over 110 million cubic meters during the heating season. Coordination of the LNG import resource unloading plan is arranged, optimizing and adjusting the shipping schedules and resource exports of its own LNG receiving stations in Qingdao, Tianjin, and Huaying, solidifying the foundation for supply protection resources.

Full commitment to ensuring gas supply for people’s livelihoods. The gas storage peak-shaving capability was fully utilized, achieving a daily gas extraction of over 59 million cubic meters on January 23, setting a new historical record. Actively responding to market changes, great efforts were made to ensure gas supply in areas with high population density, significant residential gas usage, and heavy peak-shaving tasks. During the peak gas usage period in January, the volume of gas supplied to six northern provinces and regions increased by 12.3% year-on-year. Fully leveraging the integrated collaborative advantages of the entire industry chain, significant promotion of LNG direct supply business has led to a year-on-year increase of over 50% in retail sales of LNG for vehicles at the terminal.

Strictly ensuring winter safety in production. Special attention is paid to inspections and maintenance of LNG receiving stations, gas transmission stations, and gas storage facilities, with close monitoring of equipment status and dynamic optimization of operation modes to ensure facilities operate stably under high load conditions. Scientific and effective supply protection plans and emergency plans are developed, and solid supply protection emergency drills are conducted. At the same time, dynamic communication with local governments and downstream users is strengthened to keep real-time track of gas supply conditions and demand, ensuring overall market supply and demand stability.

In addition, Xinxing Company has increased its efforts in intelligent construction, utilizing smart production and operation platforms for new energy and heating operation guidance systems to achieve real-time data collection, precise temperature control, and remote monitoring of equipment, promoting more refined heating management, cumulatively providing geothermal heating services to over 1.3 million households. In this heating season, a number of demonstration projects have made new progress, with the second phase of the largest geothermal energy heat source project in a single station in the country successfully put into operation, and the country’s first “geothermal + waste heat” cascade utilization project at a waste incineration power plant achieving stable operation.

Moving forward, Sinopec will resolutely implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, actively respond to changes in market conditions, and coordinate overall production and operation arrangements for the year to contribute to meeting the gas demand for people’s livelihoods, promoting economic and social development, and ensuring national energy security.
