CoinWorld reports that Google is about to reach an agreement to provide over $5 billion in funding for a data center project in Texas developed by Nexus Data Centers. Once completed, the facility will be leased to Anthropic. The project covers approximately 2,800 acres and is expected to deliver about 500 MW of computing power by the end of 2026, with plans for further expansion. The report states that the data center will rely on natural gas pipelines and be powered by its own gas turbines to reduce dependence on the public power grid. Google has previously provided TPU computing support to Anthropic through Google Cloud, and this financing is seen as a further extension of their collaboration.
