Sina Finance’s “Alcohol Price Insight” launches in a major way—real market prices of well-known baijiu are now under control

Sina Finance’s “Alcohol Price Insight” data collected over the past 24 hours shows that the terminal retail average prices of the main baijiu single products in China’s baijiu market rose slightly overall as of March 27. If the main single products are each sold as one bottle in an overall bundled package, the total selling price today is 9,914 yuan, a modest increase of 10 yuan from yesterday. The overall market performance is steady: the prices of Maotai series high-end single products moved up, lifting the market’s center of gravity slightly.

Today, among the 11 major baijiu single products in the market, six rose, three fell, and two were flat. On the upside, Guojiao 1573 led the gains, rising by 5 yuan per bottle quarter-over-quarter, shifting the price center upward and delivering a three-day winning streak; Gujinggong G20 rose by 4 yuan per bottle; premium Maotai rose by 3 yuan per bottle, achieving a five-day winning streak and setting a new one-month high; Feitian Maotai, Qinghu Lang, and Crystal Jianan Chun all rose slightly by 1 yuan per bottle. On the downside, Wuliangye 1618 led the declines, falling by 3 yuan per bottle, dropping to a low point near the past 30 days; Yanghe Mengzhilán M6+ and Xijiu Junpin both were adjusted down slightly by 1 yuan per bottle. Wuliangye Puwu Baidai and Qinghua Fen 20 remained unchanged quarter-over-quarter.

“Alcohol Price Insight” daily data sources are drawn from about 200 collection points across major regions nationwide with reasonable distribution, including but not limited to distributors designated by liquor enterprises, social distributors, e-commerce platforms, and retail outlets. The original sampling data are the real transaction terminal retail prices handled at each location over the past 24 hours, aiming to provide stakeholders with an objective, scientific, and fully traceable set of data on the market prices of well-known baijiu. As of the start of selling Feitian Maotai at 1,499 yuan per bottle on the official iMaotai platform on New Year’s Day, and premium Maotai at 2,299 yuan per bottle began on January 9, this new channel’s “magnetic pull” impact on the two products’ terminal retail average prices has gradually become apparent. “Alcohol Price Insight” daily liquor-price releases follow a calculation rule weighted by actual transaction volume; we have incorporated the quantifiable prices into the calculation of the terminal retail prices for the two types of liquor.

On important news in the baijiu industry, the well-known auction house Sotheby’s recently released its 2025 wine and spirits market report, indicating a recovery trend in the global secondary market for alcohol, with increased international auction market attention on Chinese baijiu. The report shows that in 2025, the total auction transaction value for alcohol rose by 12% year over year to 127.5 million USD; spirits accounted for about 20% of the transaction value and ranked first on the transaction price leaderboard for the sixth consecutive year. Among them, Guizhou Maotai held a 16% share of transaction value, ranking second on the global spirits auction list, becoming the only Chinese baijiu brand in the top tier on that leaderboard. Across the year, Sotheby’s held 69 auctions, with 26,509 lots sold, attracting buyers from 63 countries and regions, of which about one-third were first-time participants, and the buyer structure shows a trend toward younger demographics. In addition, Sotheby’s also launched a special auction for aging Chinese baijiu, covering multiple batches of Maotai products, including the 1981-produced “Wuxingpai” Guizhou Maotai, the 1983-produced “Wuxingpai” Guizhou Maotai, the 1983–1985-produced “Dafeitian,” the 1986 to 1996 “Iron Cap” Maotai, and more, all on display.
