Madagascar's new government has been formed.
The inauguration ceremony of Madagascar’s new government took place on the evening of the 25th at the presidential palace in the capital, Antananarivo. The new government’s focus will be on improving people’s livelihoods and maintaining social stability. The list of personnel in the new government consists of 30 members, of which 17 were part of the government led by former Prime Minister Hery Rajaonarimampianina. Madagascar’s interim head of state, Andry Rajoelina, stated at the inauguration ceremony that the new government’s priority is to improve the living conditions of the people, with particular attention to food, energy, and security, areas closely related to the basic needs of the populace. At the same time, measures must be taken to prevent the potential impact of the situation in the Middle East on Madagascar. On the 9th of this month, Rajoelina announced the dissolution of the government led by Prime Minister Rajaonarimampianina. On the 15th, he appointed Mamitiana Rajaonarison as the new Prime Minister. Rajaonarison was an officer in the Madagascar National Gendarmerie and was appointed as the head of the Financial Intelligence Unit in April 2021, which is primarily responsible for combating money laundering and terrorist financing activities.
