The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has warned PayPal, Stripe, Visa, and Mastercard not to engage in "debanking" activities. The FTC Chair stated that these payment companies must not refuse financial services based on users' political or religious beliefs, or they may violate the FTC Act and face investigation and enforcement actions. This warning echoes the previous administrative order from the Trump administration regarding bans on deplatforming based on stance.
