Samsung will stop selling its first foldable phone! It has been on the market for just over three months and was once in high demand in the Chinese market.
On March 17, it was reported that Samsung Electronics is gradually stopping the sales of its first triple-folding phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, which has been on the market for only about three months. A company spokesperson stated that sales will first be halted in the South Korean domestic market, and once the remaining inventory in the U.S. market is cleared, sales will also stop in the U.S.
On the same day, Interface News checked Samsung’s official flagship stores on Tmall and JD.com and found that the phone is available for flash sales every day at 10:00 AM. As of 3:00 PM on March 17, there were 59 reservations on JD.com’s official flagship store, with a current price starting at 19,999 yuan. On the Pinduoduo platform, many merchants are also offering products priced over 20,000 yuan for direct purchase. In buyer reviews, many customers commented that “the feel of the product is very good.”

In December 2025, Samsung officially launched its first triple-folding screen phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold. In the folded state, its screen size is 6.5 inches, the same as Samsung’s other folding phone, the “Galaxy Z Fold 7”; when unfolded, its screen size can reach about 10 inches.

Since its launch, the Galaxy Z TriFold has sold out multiple times and was even resold at a premium on second-hand trading platforms. Samsung has been supplying the Galaxy Z TriFold in small quantities every one to two weeks through its official website and other online stores. In the South Korean market, the phone is quickly sold out every time it is restocked.
In the Chinese market, the daily flash sales on its Tmall and JD flagship stores are also sold out rapidly.
As the first triple-folding screen device in the Android camp, the Galaxy Z TriFold has attracted much attention since its release. However, Samsung has positioned this product as a “flagship product” to showcase its folding screen technology, rather than for mass market sales, so it is only released in limited quantities in a few markets.
In addition, Samsung has previously made it clear that there are currently no plans to develop subsequent products in this series.
Industry insiders analyze that Samsung’s decision to stop this product may be due to high production costs. Due to the significant increase in prices for core components such as DRAM, NAND flash, and application processors (AP), the profitability of this phone has been severely squeezed. “The Trifold is more of a symbolic product, aimed at demonstrating technological strength rather than generating sales revenue,” said an industry insider. “It seems Samsung believes this product has fulfilled its mission, fully showcasing its technological strength to the market.”
