Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 26 - A reporter learned from the State Administration for Market Regulation on the 26th that by 2025, the number of newly established individual businesses in China will reach 16.194 million, with overall development remaining stable. The operational resilience continues to strengthen. Data shows that the number of individual businesses that have been established for more than three years has reached 84.198 million, accounting for 65.8% of the total number of individual businesses, an increase of 9.7 percentage points compared to the end of 2020, highlighting the enhanced long-term operational capabilities of individual businesses. Meanwhile, the trend of integrating online and offline development is evident, with the number of individual businesses operating on online trading platforms increasing by 14.7% year-on-year, further broadening their operating channels. The business formats are evolving towards new and superior ones. In 2025, 6.468 million new individual businesses in the “new four economies” will be established, totaling 39.975 million, which has maintained steady growth for five consecutive years, becoming a new driving force for the development of individual businesses. 1.4625 million new individual businesses in the service industry have been established, with the top three fastest-growing sectors being scientific research and technical services, education, and cultural, sports, and entertainment industries, indicating a significant upgrade in service industry formats. The quality of operations is gradually improving. As of now, 184,000 “distinctive and high-quality” individual businesses have been cultivated, with a median operating duration of 8.4 years, showcasing excellent operational stability and development quality; the number of “growth-type” and “development-type” individual businesses has increased to 13.89 million, while the proportion of “survival-type” individual businesses is gradually decreasing, optimizing the overall operational hierarchy. Next, the Market Regulation Administration will compile and implement the “14th Five-Year Plan” to promote the development of individual businesses, with deepening precise assistance based on classifications as an important focus, continuously strengthening the cultivation of “distinctive and high-quality” individual businesses, promoting digital empowerment for platform enterprises, and assisting individual businesses in achieving higher-quality development.
