Odaily Planet Daily reports that a knowledgeable official from the U.S. Department of Defense revealed that the Pentagon is considering deploying up to 10,000 ground troops to the Middle East to provide more military options as Trump weighs negotiations with Iran. This force, which may include infantry and armored vehicles, will join approximately 5,000 Marines and thousands of 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers already ordered to deploy to the region. It is currently unclear where exactly these troops will be stationed in the Middle East, but they are likely to be deployed within range to strike Iran and its Halek Island. Trump has repeatedly stated that he will open the Strait of Hormuz regardless of whether U.S. allies assist. White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said that all announcements regarding troop deployments will be made by the Department of Defense. As we have said, President Trump always has all military options at his disposal. The spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, responsible for U.S. military forces in the Middle East, declined to comment. (The Wall Street Journal)
