Meta and News Corp reach content AI application licensing agreement, with annual transaction volume potentially reaching $50 million.
IT House, March 4 — According to reports from The Wall Street Journal and Engadget, Meta has reached a content AI application licensing agreement with News Corp, which includes The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets under its umbrella. The agreement is valid for at least three years, allowing Meta to incorporate News Corp’s content created in the US and UK into its AI services.
The materials provided by News Corp will enrich the information sources for Meta AI products, and these resources will also become part of Meta AI’s training datasets.
News Corp CEO Robert Thomson stated at an investor conference hosted by Morgan Stanley on Monday that the company’s other content licensing deals are also in the final stages. Thomson mentioned that News Corp will offer preferential pricing to companies actively seeking content resource collaborations, while those that refuse to cooperate will face penalties.
