Global Media Focus | Foreign Media: China Sends Signals of Stability and Openness Amid U.S. Involvement in the Conflict
How Will China Become a Pillar of Global Stability Amid International Turmoil?
Several foreign media outlets have focused on the China Development Forum 2026 Annual Meeting held in Beijing on March 22, noting that China is signaling stability and openness amid current international turbulence.
The Financial Times reported that China actively engaged global business leaders at the forum in Beijing. Against the backdrop of uncertainty caused by the U.S. military actions against Iran, China emphasized its security and reliability, forming a stark contrast.

The Financial Times quoted Chinese officials as saying that China aims to become a “pillar of certainty” and a “stable harbor,” highlighting its “unparalleled supply chains” and “predictable business environment.” At the same time, China will continue to promote high-level opening-up, expand imports of quality goods, and push for more balanced trade development.
The report also cited participants’ views that China is demonstrating increased safety, reliability, and stability, with a stronger focus on economic development, distinguishing itself from other major economies affected by geopolitical conflicts.

The Financial Times further pointed out that this forum is seen as an important platform for China to introduce a new round of economic planning to the outside world. The article quoted Chinese officials as saying that China’s economic competitiveness stems from economic reforms, market size, supply chains, and scientific research capabilities, rather than solely relying on external factors.
Reuters also mentioned in related reports that China reaffirmed during the forum its commitment to expanding opening-up, providing a fairer market environment for foreign-invested enterprises, and promoting more balanced trade development. In the context of rising global uncertainties, these measures are viewed as signals of stability.
Pakistan’s Minute Mirror noted that amid the complex and changing international economic and trade landscape, China’s statements at the China Development Forum aim to convey stable expectations to international investors and demonstrate China’s commitment to a mutually beneficial and open strategy.
