Trump, while speaking at a fundraising dinner for the Republican Congressional Committee in Washington, D.C., insisted that he is negotiating with Iran, claiming that "Iran desperately wants to make a deal but doesn't dare say it openly." Trump stated that this is because Iranian leaders "are afraid of being taken down by their own people, and also afraid of being taken down by America." He also said that America has "won so decisively" against Iran.
