Mars Finance reports that on March 26, the United States has been signaling willingness to resume US-Iran talks, but Iran continues to undermine these efforts. Trump administration officials say the White House is working to arrange a meeting in Pakistan this weekend to discuss solutions to the Iran crisis, and US Vice President Pence may travel to Pakistan this weekend to participate in talks with Iran. The US also insists it has not received any signals from Iran rejecting negotiations.

Meanwhile, Iran has taken a hardline stance, stating that a ceasefire and negotiations are currently impossible, and has laid out five conditions for a ceasefire: a complete halt to aggression and assassinations, guarantees that war will not be imposed on Iran again, war reparations, the end of all fronts and resistance groups, and recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also issued a stern warning that if hostile forces supported by the US occupy Iranian islands, Iran may open a new front in the Strait of Mandeb.
