AI Ghost Stories Playing Out at Todai?

What's with NetEase, ByteDance, iFLYTEK, and Dewu opening up layoff waves? Actually, the big tech companies in the US are cutting pretty hard too.

I recently used Codex and it's seriously impressive. I originally wanted to use Claude since I found out Claude is top-tier architect level for programming, but you need an overseas phone number so I gave up.

Now one AI programmer can replace 10 programmers, and programmers already have relatively high salaries in the industry, so as a business operator you're definitely going to consider costs.

This structural pain is definitely going to last for a while. In the future, I guess we'll need more jobs that AI can't replace, like companionship roles, emotional value providers, streamers/hosts?

But I think if AI evolves to Turing level in the future—meaning when you chat with it, you can't distinguish whether it's a real person or AI—then honestly, what could AI possibly not replace?

Is Earth going to evolve from carbon-based life to silicon-based life? That's actually pretty scary to think about.
