US energy firm Sempra announced it will sell its Mexican natural gas distribution unit, Ecogas México, for approximately US$500 million and has delayed the start of operations for its Energía Costa Azul LNG plant in Baja California from spring to summer 2026. This LNG project postponement is one year past its initial 2025 deadline. Simultaneously, Sempra is divesting 45% of its Sempra Infrastructure subsidiary to a KKR-led consortium for US$10 billion to focus on lower-risk utility operations in the US.
