IT Home, March 10th: According to foreign media Windows Central, during a recent internal company meeting, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella discussed the future direction of Xbox. He pointed out that the core goal of the team is to find the “broadest and most comprehensive” development form for games, allowing gaming to break through the limitations of traditional console platforms.

Nadella stated that the company will continue to increase investment, developing games into a more inclusive and scalable entertainment form, while still maintaining high-quality AAA gaming experiences.

In fact, Microsoft has been pushing the transformation of the Xbox business over the past decade. Early on, the company integrated Xbox more closely with the PC platform through Windows 10, and later launched the cloud gaming project Project xCloud, bringing Xbox games to mobile devices. In recent years, Microsoft has further broken platform exclusivity strategies, allowing some Xbox games to be available on competing platforms like PS5 and Switch. This strategy has significantly boosted software sales revenue in the short term.

Microsoft clearly plans to continue expanding this strategic scope. Reports suggest that the company is considering launching a free Xbox cloud gaming service with ads in certain countries.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s new Xbox head Asha Sharma recently revealed that the company is advancing the development of “cloud-native gaming” and hinted at ongoing plans for the next-generation hardware project, Project Helix. Microsoft aims to achieve what Nadella described as “expanding and extending the gaming form” through cloud-native gaming and broader, low-threshold cloud platform access.
