Dongwei Electronics Invests Over 800 Million Yuan to Establish Semiconductor Equipment Production Base in Lang Innovation Park
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and Dongwei Electronics Hong Kong Limited held the “Yuen Long Innovation Park Semiconductor Equipment Production Base Project Launch Ceremony” at Yuen Long Innovation Park.
Dongwei Electronics plans to invest over 800 million HKD to establish a new semiconductor equipment production base at the Microelectronics Center (MECX) in Yuen Long Innovation Park. The goal is to build a new production line for semiconductor equipment and pilot testing, with initial front-end semiconductor equipment including furnace tubes, etching, and chemical vapor deposition equipment, to further connect with research resources and expand into international markets. This project can receive up to 200 million HKD in funding from the “New Industry Acceleration Plan.”
Charles Mok, Chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, stated that as the country advances into the “14th Five-Year Plan,” clearly supporting Hong Kong’s development as an international innovation and technology hub, Hong Kong is迎來 a significant opportunity for the development of the microelectronics industry. Dongwei Electronics’ decision to settle in Yuen Long Innovation Park is not only an important milestone in collaboration between the Science Park and enterprises but also a major breakthrough for Hong Kong’s push to develop the microelectronics industry and move toward new industrialization. The Science Park will continue to work closely with the SAR government and industry-academic-research partners to promote more “Hong Kong R&D, pilot testing, and manufacturing” of hard technology成果 to the market, fostering the long-term development of Hong Kong’s electronics industry chain.
Wang Yongchao, Chairman of Henan Dongwei Electronic Materials Co., Ltd., said that choosing to establish a presence in Hong Kong was a well-considered strategic decision. Hong Kong boasts a world-class innovation and technology ecosystem, top-tier research infrastructure, and an irreplaceable international location advantage. As a “super connector” linking Mainland China and the global market, Hong Kong is the best transit point for the company to go global. Dongwei Electronics will deepen cooperation with the Science Park, research institutions, and industry partners to advance chip design and advanced equipment breakthroughs, building China’s core strength in the era of artificial intelligence, and contributing to Hong Kong’s goal of becoming an international innovation and technology center and achieving自主可控 in the national semiconductor industry chain.
Liu Zhiyuan, Assistant Director of Invest Hong Kong, also attended to show support and stated that Invest Hong Kong provides one-stop professional support for mainland Chinese companies like Dongwei Electronics, from business planning to settling in Hong Kong, helping them use Hong Kong as a strategic platform to expand into international markets and connect with global business opportunities.
