Today's lithium carbonate spot price fluctuates downward
Today, the SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price fluctuated downward compared to the previous trading day. From the market trend, after the main contract opened, it quickly dropped below the 150,000 yuan/ton mark, then stabilized and rebounded, fluctuating narrowly around 153,000 yuan/ton. After midday, prices began to rise steadily, and near the close, they surged close to 160,000 yuan/ton, ultimately closing at a relatively high level for the day. By the end of the trading session, open interest decreased by approximately 6.3 lots compared to the previous day.
In terms of actual transactions, upstream lithium salt producers remain reluctant to sell at lower prices, maintaining a firm stance on price support, with weak willingness to sell individual lots. Meanwhile, downstream material manufacturers showed a clear increase in purchasing activity when prices fell to relatively low levels, with a stronger willingness to buy on dips. Overall, market inquiry activity has increased, and actual transactions have slightly improved compared to previous days.
Regarding future price trends, today’s market showed signs of recovery, but from the perspective of actual transactions, downstream material manufacturers are not highly willing to accept higher prices. It is expected that lithium carbonate prices may continue to fluctuate tomorrow. (Shanghai Nonferrous Metals Network)
