On February 13th local time, the U.S. Southern Command announced on social media that the U.S. “Southern Spear” joint task force carried out a “lethal strike” against a vessel operated by a “designated terrorist organization.” The Southern Command stated that intelligence indicated the vessel was “sailing along known drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean and involved in drug trafficking activities.” During the operation, three “drug trafficking terrorists” were killed, with no casualties among U.S. personnel. Since early September last year, the U.S. military has conducted multiple strikes against so-called “drug trafficking ships” in the Caribbean and the Eastern Pacific, and on November 13th, announced the launch of the “Southern Spear” military operation. However, the U.S. government has not released any evidence proving that the targeted vessels were involved in drug trafficking. (CCTV News)
