People’s Financial News, March 13 — Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated on the 12th local time that the U.S. military presence in the Middle East is not only detrimental to security but has also become a factor of regional instability. He reiterated that Iran has no hostility toward the countries and people of the region, but reserves the right to self-defense against acts of military aggression and attacks launched using bases and facilities in certain countries. Iran will take action against attacking bases in accordance with the law. If these countries cease to use their territory and facilities to attack Iran, Iran’s defensive measures will also stop. Regarding the passage through the Strait of Hormuz, Kanaani emphasized that Iran is the guardian of the Strait. The insecurity in the region is not in Iran’s interest, but is imposed by the U.S. and Israeli governments. He stated that ships in the past need to coordinate with the Iranian Navy to ensure safe navigation. (CCTV News)
