Abstract generation in progress

Kroger is continuing with its plan to close 60 stores nationwide by the end of 2026, with two Houston-area stores scheduled for April closures. The company states these closures, which involve approximately 1,000 layoffs, are aimed at increasing efficiency and ensuring long-term business health. One Illinois store in Peoria is already slated for closure in August 2026, and a list of other affected stores across several states has been released, though Kroger has not disclosed further closure plans for the Midwest.
