According to CCTV News, the U.S. government plans to impose new tariffs on products across multiple industries, including large batteries, cast iron, and telecommunications equipment. Currently, the U.S. Department of Commerce is initiating an investigation under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, while the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is also conducting a new investigation under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. Previously, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the government’s large-scale tariff policies were illegal, and several states have demanded refunds of taxes paid under those policies. New York State is requesting approximately $13.5 billion in refunds, while California and Illinois have made similar claims, with over a thousand companies filing lawsuits.
